Peil Abu News
Match report 27th May
A combination of the Good Weather and our Good Lord ( via First Communions) meant our numbers were down this week. However we played on regardless with help from our first ever Father and Son combination Paul and David Hyland. The first 2 quarters were very close but the Reds pulled away after that with newcomer John very impressive. ( Little does he know he will struggle to walk for the rest of the week like the rest of us!) Paddy decided to aim for the big goal with the small goal gaping...and still missed both. No game this coming Sunday 3rd June due to Dublin v Louth and the Bank Holiday. We are back on Sunday 10th June 5pm pitch 10 so hopefully all the faces we've seen over the last few weeks will turn up for that - we could get a 15-a-side if everyone who's registered shows up. |
Report Sunday 20th May
High quality Peil Abu match this Sunday. We had uneven numbers but Fintan O'Hanlon decided to do the running for 2 men so that balanced things out! Stuart had no excuse for poor passing this week as the new set of Red and Yellow bibs were rolled out. Ger decided to ignore the scoring zone by hitting the crossbar from 40 yards. Tony twice stole in at the back post for Gooch-quality goals but Kevin top scored again this week as he enjoys the new square ball rule by never leaving the scoring zone! 5pm Pitch 10 every Sunday and all newcomers very welcome - we even had a Clare jersey on display this week having lured Louth in last week! |
What the hell is "Peil Abu" anyway I heard someone say....
The scoring zone thingy took a bit of getting used to i.e. fisted points only and only from inside the "zone" but eventually Listen there may have been injuries but they were light except for the black-eye and the sprained ankle but everybody managed to break into a smile at least once during the afternoons effort so I'd call that a result. Back to the clubhouse with everybody for some much needed refreshment and some beautiful burgers and hot-dogs and of course the post match discussion/argument which was followed by promises to be there next week "for sure... if i ever get to straighten my legs again". I'm sold on this new fangled sport and thanks to the lads for organising it ..... and the catering crew for the BBQ... |
