Some of you were worrying would you get game time throughout the year- i think you now should have no worries. I want to call a meeting for middle of next week ( next Wednesday night 8 pm) to advise how the hurling section intends to operate for the season or very much the next quarter. As you may know we still do not have a Senior hurling manager in place – all I can say we are actively discussing the position with a number of possible candidates and will hopefully have someone in position within the next fortnight to appoint a candidate. The Senior Hurlers are undergoing a very intensive pre season session under the guidance of a number of the more experienced players and i am satisfied that we will be ready for when the season starts and if our discussions come to nought – I have a plan B prepared . With regard to the Junior B team – I have heard rumours of people interested in managing the team but until they present themselves so as to firm up on their ideas this position remains open. This team will not be a social team as has been in the past and if it does become one it is my intention is to disband immediately and all interested players will be incorporated in the Junior A team – this is a development team for the younger players coming out of minor to start off their adult hurling careers playing alongside experienced interested focused players who wish to remain hurling as their careers tapers off. This team is more than capable of winning the championship and getting promotion form its league. Once again I have no real worries most of the players who will be playing at this grade since majority are doing some sort of fitness work across the various teams/sections and I will continue to train all players for the Junior Section. If no person comes on board as manager of this team we will appoint a group of people to co-ordinate the management of the team from within the club , this is not ideal but I am certain with your co-operation that it will work. The Junior A team whilst performing well last year must set at a minimum the goal of getting out of JHC D and perform to the best of their abilities in the cup and league where the opposition will be of a much higher calibre but all who play on this squad are well capable of meeting the challenge. Please circulate the mail to all within the hurling section interested in playing hurling at whatever grade in 2012. Kevin Broderick (Club Coaching Officer) |
