7th September 2009 The Junior D footballers continued their good run in the Junior D Championship in Skerries this morning. Raheny started well and moved into a quick 0-4 to 0-0 lead. A couple of injuries to Eoghan Mullen and Ciaran Flynn disrupted their rhythm however and Skerries worked their way back into contention. However 2 quick goals from Eoin Pelly settled the nerves and Raheny held a 2-5 to 0-4 lead at the break despite playing into the wind and rain. A quick point from John Coughlan at the start of the second half re-asserted our dominance and a goal from Colm Murphy soon after effectively ended the game as a contest. Skerries kept plugging away and when Raheny were reduced to 14 men they tagged on a few late scores. St.Sylvesters, Parnells and St Finians of Newcastle are the other semi-finalists. |
