Dublin GAA Golf Challenge at Hollystown

Ciarán Whelan, All Star Dublin footballer, on Monday night announced details of the Dublin GAA Club Golf Challenge taking place at Hollystown Golf Club on Friday April 18.

Sponsored by O’Neills Irish International Sports Company, there will be €20,000 in prizes on offer for the challenge, which is open to all Dublin GAA Clubs. Official media partners for the event are the Evening Herald and 98FM.

Dublin GAA Club delegates attending the Dublin County Board Meeting at Parnell Park, heard details of the competition and each received an entry form.

O’Neills International Sports Company is generously providing vouchers for Gaelic games sportswear and equipment as well as perpetual cup and crystal ware to a total value of €20,000. There are prizes for the top 20 teams in addition to a draw for O’Neills vouchers to the value of €2,000 for sportswear and equipment.

Speaking at the announcement Whelan stated: “It is my great pleasure to present to you tonight the details of the Dublin GAA Golf Challenge, and the coming together of Hollystown G.C. and O’Neills International Sports Company, in association with media partners the Evening Herald and 98FM. With 20 top prizes up for grabs and such a reasonable entry fee of €250 per team, I have no doubt that this golf day will be hugely popular amongst the Dublin clubs. The 1st prize, valued at €3,000, will provide the winning club with O’Neills vouchers for sportswear and equipment for their club and those in 20th place will win a voucher €200 euros worth of gear, which represents great value for money and a wonderful day-out with their peers.

"I don’t know of any club that wouldn’t welcome the chance to upgrade their kit or training equipment and to have the chance to do so by playing a round of golf at Hollystown G.C. is even better. The hospitality there is second to none and the course is of Championship standard. Because of the shotgun start the entry is limited which means that every team stands a very good chance of winning a prize and those not in the top 20 will go into a draw for O’Neills vouchers to the value of €2,000.

"I myself am certainly looking forward to it and would advise anyone who plans on entering to get their entry in quick before the timesheet is full.”

Joe Bedford, Course Superintendent Hollystown G.C. said, “We are really thrilled and excited about the Dublin GAA Club Golf Challenge and would like thank O’Neills for putting up such fantastic prizes. It truly shows their commitment to Gaelic games. We are tremendously proud of our 27-hole golf Championship facility at Hollystown and are delighted to work again with the Evening Herald, 98FM and such a great brand as O’Neills in giving something special to the GAA golfing enthusiast communities.”

Hollystown has a great relationship with Dublin GAA a large number of the present senior panel are members of
