Congratulations to Clare
on winning All-Ireland Hurling Championship, A fantastic game, possibly one of the best this season. And not forgetting Cork on winning the Ladies All Ireland Football Championship.

Numbers are growing still at our Ogra, we had a massive 103 children down for training and all enjoyed the fresh fruit and water after.  Our healthy eating policy is starting at the earliest level and we are hoping to work it all the way through the juvenile section of the club with the mentors support.

Mentors please remember deadline is 8pm on Sunday for Club notes, also we need a list of everyone who is involved with your team to up date our list for mentors nights and please ensure everyone Adult that helps with the team has been given a Garda Vetting Form.

Our Seniors are still in the Championship
and have a match on October 2nd in Balgriffin
at 18.45 v Fingal Ravens Big support needed, this is one for our 16th Man....

Senior Camogie win the Shield

Our Senior 1 Camogie side ended the season in style with a convincing 10 point win against Mearnogs in the Shield Final this morning in St Annes.

The girls were ahead from the start building up a good lead in the first half with five different scorers putting us into a 1-6 to 0-4 lead at the break. All 15 players were sharp and on their game with the defense giving the Mearnogs girls no room and getting first into every tackle.

Early in second half Mearnogs pushed to get back into the game but again our defense held firm only letting in a further 1-1 in that period while we added a further 2-3 to give us a 10 point win.

The shield trophy was presented to a proud captian Ciara Burgess who will now be allowed go off and get married now that the season is done!

Congrats to the team who were all magnificent on the day.

AFL7, Junior A
Raheny Vs St Oliver Plunketts,
2-09, 0-10
The Junior A team went into today's match needing nothing more than a win to move clear of the relegation play off places.
Starting really well with some well worked moves, Raheny struggled to get onto the score board & allowed Plunketts to move into an early 5 point lead. The lads continued to work hard for each other & the back 6 started to come to terms with their opposite number. Steo "Bear" O'Brien leading the way with a master class in defending, he was backed up brilliantly with similar defending from Bren White & Brian Talty ( the ref actually complimenting Talty on his work)
From a kickout Cathal Gallagher found Deco Gallagher who then hit a "money" pass to Ciaran McNally, Ciaran went through & buried the ball in the net, shortly after Shane Homan landed a peach of a '45 just before the break & we went in at halftime 1-4 to 6 points up despite our slow scoring start.
The lads then kicked on in the second half finding an extra gear on a hot day, this weeks training really showing on a match day. Scores were easier to find in the second half & the lads kept the board ticking over with scores from Niall Fitzsimons & Shane Homan. Shane Homan was at the end of a well worked team goal. Shane having started the match carrying a knock, being subbed & coming back on. Today our full forward line finished with an impressive 2-7, the half forward line covered every inch of pitch 9, Kev Gillen in particular worked extremely hard for his team. Midfielder Mike McNieve chipping in with a rare point too. The back 6 all worked very hard throughout with Paul Fitzsimons coming in & having a huge second half.
Over all today's win was a huge team effort, the lads worked hard in training this week, thanks has to go to Saus Dowling & Pat Ivory for Tuesday & Thursday nights work. Today's man of the match was too tight to call certainly a team day. Steo O'Brien led by example & put in a captains display while Kev Gillen worked tirelessly over the 60 minutes.
  • Shane Homan 1-3 (1,'45)
  • Ciaran McNally 1-1
  • Niall Fitzsimons 0-3 (1 free)
  • Deco Gallagher 0-1
  • Mike McNeive 0-1
Team: Cathal Gallagher, Steo O'Brien, Bren White, Rory Boyle, Ian Fitzsimons, Kev Welsh, Brian Talty, Mike McNeive, Mark Stauton, Collie Fitzpatrick, Deco Gallagher, Kev Gilen, Shane Homan, Ciaran McNally, Niall Fitzsimons
Subs: Paul Fitzsimons for Shane Homan, Rob O'Neill for Brian Talty, Shane Homan for Deco Gallagher, Brian Malone

U9s Girls
A report on the match from the girls from the under nines Football team who watched it live in Croke Park.
Congratulations to Cork who won the All Ireland Senior Ladies football final.
It was a closely contested match Cork very nearly lost out due to some scores not chalked on the board due to wides.
Monaghan fought a hard game against them and battled all the way to the last kick of them game.  The tide turned against Monaghan when in the closing minutes they had a player sent off.  It was all to play for when after full time had sounded Monaghan had one last kick. The pressure would have rattled any player and the poor Monaghan girl ballooned it wide ending their 2013 run. Leaving the Cork ladies the 2013 winners for the eight time in tens years.
The under nine girls have set their sights on showing off the cup in Raheny GAA when they win it for Dublin.
