FIXTURES

After an enthralling battle away to Naomh Olaf, the game ended in a draw. The replay will be played on pitch 9 at 5.30pm* on Saturday 16th September - the day before the All-Ireland mens football final.

The lads are looking for strong sideline support for this vital match. We're still only "ONE HOUR AWAY FROM SENIOR A HURLING" so come out and shout for the lads on Saturday 16th September.

Raheny GAA Golf Society
Despite our best efforts unfortunately we haven't had a great response to our proposed 18 hole golf outing on 15th September. Only 7 people were interested in playing which isn't enough to run this event so it will not be going ahead. This was to be our last event of the season and we hoped to finish on a good note so it's very disappointing that we couldn't get more support for it. We have run 5 events since April which were enjoyed by all who took part from the feedback we received. However this hasn't translated into better support club-wide for these golf outings and the numbers taking part are low considering the size of the mailing list. This is the 2nd year of running more regular golf outings so we had hoped to see a real increase in people participating this year but that hasn't happened. If Fionnan & I had a euro for every time someone told us they'd "make the next one" we'd have raised enough money to build another astro pitch!! I'd welcome any feedback on e-mail (baldwin.stuart@gmail.com) with ideas that would attract you and others to take part. As I know you are aware, there is obviously a small bit of time and effort that goes into running these things and the ongoing low numbers taking part don't justify that input. We may look at reducing the number of outings next year to a maximum of 2 or 3 and hopefully people can get behind them. The goals of the events is simply to spend some time getting to know more people in your GAA club, raise a small level of funds for a good cause within the club and finally to support our club bar (and ultimately our club as a whole). I hope people will bear all that in mind next year and that we see greater numbers participating. Many thanks to those who did take part this year and well done to prize winners. We will provide an update soon on surplus funds raised and where these will be allocated. Thanks Stuart, Fionnan, Cathal & Mike
