posted Oct 29, 2014, 10:45 AM by Kevin Brassil
Apology's again over lack of evening herald club notes.

There will be no Ogra this Saturday so enjoy your lie-in and we will see you all back the following Saturday 8th November.

Congratulations to our neighbours St Vincents on winning the Dublin championship on Monday night.

Our strictly come dancing dancers are well into their training,
if you want to know who they are "LIKE" our Facebook page.  Raheny GAA presents "Strictly Come Dancing" tickets for the night are available from any of the dancers or committee members or in the club house.

Senior Hurlers
Raheny Seniors ended their AHL2 League Season on a high last Thursday night - needing a win to move away from the relegation zone- they left their best performance of the season till the last game.
Led brilliantly by captain Greg Bennett at centre back - whose covering and distribution was of All Star Standard all night- playing against the wind Raheny burst into the game with some marvelous scores from Eoghan Smyth, Eoin Keogh, Liam O Shea but none of these scores could better the 2 goals scored by the determined high fielding Darragh Pelly making his end of season cameo role for the hurlers.

Kilmacud continued to show their great club competitive spirit keeping in touch with a number of frees just before half time but Raheny led at the break 2.7 to 0.11.
After a rising team talk led by goalkeeper Eamon "Eggsie " Curley- Raheny began the 2nd half in similar style to the first with points from Paddy Bradshaw after a fine run, Dave Henry scoring a fine point from some 30m out from goal near the sideline and topped off by a 90m rocket launcher point from Jacko Hanley- he tells me it was nearer to 120m - keeping the momentum going.
After this both team exchanged points but Raheny continued to hook, block hassle the Kilmacud players fighting for every ball and all their efforts to win the game was greatly appreciated by the large Raheny support who turned up on the night.
The Raheny defence particularly the 2 Ger's - Sheehy and Coady - holding the Crokes attack at bay- the defense never looking like being breached for a goal at any stage.
When Kevin Roche the referee blew his whistle at the end of the game Raheny had won the game 2.16 to 0.17 and Raheny AHL2 League status was safe for another year. If the ;lads bring this standard of play into the 2015 season they will be fighting for promotion instead of relegation nest year and will surely bring home the coveted Intermediate Championship- lads enjoy the close season.

U13 Ladies camogie/footballers held a pub quiz on Thursday last and raised just short of €1,500, thank you to the parents and friends who supported and to those who sent money and prizes in lieu of attending. It was great to see other clubs supporting the girls as well, a Parnell's man and a Vincents one were spotted participating.

Congratulations to Andrew and Jenny Dowling on the birth of their beautiful daughter Sarah.

Last shout out to any club member who wants to book the hall
or the hill for communion parties next year deadline is 30th October.

Congratulations to our U15s Tom and Darragh Keogh, Phelim Kenny and Ben McHugh on helping create history for their school Ard Scoil Ris a fantastic 5 in a row win in U16 Dublin schools Hurling final.

Best of luck to our U13 div 5 who are playing in Camogie Shield final on Sunday morning in Naomh Olafs at 1.30pm.

Lotto still not won, its at a massive €3,600, who wouldn't like to win this before Christmas?? How do you play.... on-line, in club house or by setting up a standing order. Congratulations to Mary and John Ward who won Novembers 200 euro draw.
