Match Report

Our u12 Raheny(2) boys produced a magnificent hurling performance  away from home to defeat Lucan Sarsfield 4:3 2:2 on Saturday.

In what was a highly competitive match through out, Raheny were 1st out of the blocks  with a  fine long range point  by Joshua Barry  who played a starring role in midfield ending  with a personal tally of 2:2.

Lucan struck back with a goal  before Jason Buckley nailed 2 ground strokes in quick succession to the back of the net.

Lucan then came back into the game and got a goal after some heroic defending by Stefan Twomey, Aaron Fitzsimon Cormac Lenihan Robert Moran  and James O Connell who controlled the game from centre back.

Now our forwards were all in full gear Conor Ryan, Morgan Spillane, Rueben Murphy all working hard closing down their defence with Paul Hyland hitting over a great point before the half time.

Lucan  started the second much stronger and had us under a lot of pressure  for long periods and again our defence stepped up assisted by Sean O Grady who worked tirelessly back from Midfield.

With our ground hurling  proving more effective and some great link play Raheny regained momentum  and Joshua hit his second to the roof of the net to secured the win .

This was a great team effort and our boys can be very proud of their display on the day. Well done all.

From Mike Twomey
