Hurling – Under 8’s Raheny White vs O’Dwyers, Gormanstown
Another enthralling match in Gormanstown saw the Raheny Whites beat O’Dwyers by the tightest of margins (1-0). It was a tense affair with the Raheny front line, lead by the tenacious Marley Kellett Whelan, Alex Mitchell and James Brady keeping O’Dwyers pecked in their final third for much of the opening exchanges and when the ball did move towards midfield the tackling of Sean McQuaid and skilled passing of Tom Cooke maintained the Raheny onslaught. The goal for Raheny came midway through the match when Edward Keegan played on to Mathew Clarke who in turn placed a neat pass into Ben Lynch for him to score the decisive goal in the bottom right hand corner of the O’Dwyers net. Late in the game O’Dwyers mounted an onslaught on the Raheny goal line but were kept at bay by the ever impressive Thomas Mann and ably supported by Paddy Crowley and Amanuel McGovern, when in the dying seconds, for what looked like a certain equalising goal for O’Dwyers, only to be denied by a brilliant save from Jasio Dudczak. All in all another great performance for the Under 8 Raheny Whites who maintained their 100% record in Gormanstown.
