Thanks to Fionnán for report on Saturdays blitz. Parents please note in particular the last line of Fionnáns report. Every player should be picking up his hurley each day for at least a quarter of an hour. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We travelled the short distance to Clontarf's all weather pitch at Alfie Byrne Road for a hurling blitz with Clontarf and Castleknock providing the opposition. Tight timespace meant that our three
teams were confined to two matches of 15 minutes each. This was a little
disappointing as our regular matches are 40 minutes duration.
Unfortunately this was out of our control and we had to accept the
situation as it was presented.
A mixed bag of results saw one victory and two
defeats to Castleknock and then one victory, one draw and one defeat to
Clontarf. All three teams had to sit out the
first matches of the blitz and each team was slow to get moving once the
games started. However, the commitment and team work from the players
was excellent. It was good to see the boys comfortable with both ground
hurling and air hurling.
There were very good performances from Ruairi Kelly,
Daniel Broderick, John Robinson, Cillian Ryan, Cormac Lenehan and Karl
English. Parents please encourage the boys to
pick up a hurl for a few minutes every day and not just on training or
match day as the extra practise makes all the difference. |
